Functions

The College Development Council in consultation with the University and other concerned Regulatory Bodies takes all steps that fit for the promotion, coordination and raising the standard of education in colleges. The functions of CDC are

  • Functions as a policy making body with regard to proper planning for the integrated development of affiliated colleges in the University.
  • The CDC invites applications every year from colleges for affiliation and organizes inspections to colleges for extending the temporary affiliation from time to time or granting permanent affiliation.
  • The CDC, based on permission from regulatory body and after physical verification of the basic infrastructure, subjected to the fulfillment of defined conditions shall accords affiliation to the colleges to run the courses.
  • Reviews the inspection reports of colleges and suggest remedies for the deficiencies and irregularities reported.
  • The CDC helps in the all round development of the colleges subject to the commitment of the management in abiding to the rules and regulations from time to time.
  • CDC keep close contact with the colleges and help them in sustained development of academic and student amenities in the colleges.
  • CDC keeps close contact with the Colleges with a view to helping them in proper Utilization of grants and effective implementation of UGC projects and reforms to make them more relevant and significant keeping in mind not only to students, but also to the region by assessing social transformation and regional development.
  • Advises the University with regard to rationalization and implementation of University’s policy on affiliation of colleges
  • Keeps close contact with the Colleges with a view to helping them in their proper selection and approval of appointment of teachers.
  • Helps in the implementation of Regulations framed by the UGC regarding minimum standards of instruction for the award of degree and also regarding restructuring of courses at the undergraduate level,
  • Helps in the selective development of some colleges to remove regional imbalances and also assists colleges to realize their potential, and in the identification of colleges for autonomous status;
  • Evaluates and assesses the impact of UGC grants utilized by colleges;
  • Ensures that these grants are properly and expeditiously disbursed to colleges for specified purposes according to the guidelines laid down by the Commission;
  • Obtains from colleges and furnishes to the Commission the Utilization Certificates and completion documents in respect of UGC grants released / disbursed to colleges through the University and helps in monitoring the UGC programmes implemented by the affiliated colleges;
  • Ensure close and continued contact and interaction between the academic faculties at the University teaching departments and at the colleges, monitors regular statistics on the development of colleges.
  • Prepares Annual Reports of the functions of the College Development Council during the year and submits the same to the Syndicate and the University Grant Commission;
  • Performs such other functions as may be prescribed or as may be deemed necessary by the University for advancing the cause of collegiate education as may be incidental or conductive to the discharge of the above functions. 
  • To help colleges in formulating proposals for development grants from UGC.
  • To encourage college teachers to undertake Ph.D and M.Phil programs and avail the UGC assistance and as well to apply for Minor Research and Major Research Projects.
  • Conducts survey of colleges and prepares the profile of each college;
